When it came time to retire, she knew that she wanted to work in a field that she would love just as much. "Kamping and RVing have been a big part of our family," said Janet. "Now, to be able to share the fun that we've always had is very rewarding." Zuckerman has been managing kampgrounds for 4 years and now husband Dan, a Health Information Coordinator, is beginning to work part-time in park management as well. "Our years of people skills and organization has made it an easy transition to kampgrounds," Janet noted. When it comes to their philosophy of customer service, the Zuckermans believe in a Golden Rule approach. "We treat our staff and our kampers as we would like to be treated," Janet said. "Our goal is to have them want to come back because we treat them so well. Our guests are always telling us how friendly and helpful our staff is." Dan and Janet, both of whom are gourd artists, enjoy traveling, and spend as much time as they can doing both. But they also like the "folks" who greet them when they return to their kampground. "We have many types of birds that live here," Janet said. "Pelicans will race along beside you when you rent a paddle boat, and Canadian geese honk good morning. A family of ducks will walk into kampsites to say hello, and the doves will coo to you when you have your morning coffee. "We may be only one mile from town, but our bird friends give it the feel of the great outdoors." Come meet The Zuckerman Family. |
