Just 5 miles south, the deep canyons and towering moss-covered bluffs at Starved Rock State Park will make you feel as though you've left the Prairie State altogether. Hike 13 miles of well-marked trails along canyons with splashing waterfalls. Rent canoes for cruises on the Illinois River. Bring along a fishing rod to try your luck with the catfish, walleye and white bass lurking below.
