Beaches

We are located only three miles from the longest stretch of sandy beach in Maine, Old Orchard Beach. In addition, you can enjoy smaller and quieter beaches, such as Ferry Beach State Park, Camp Ellis, Biddeford Pool, Higgins Beach and Pine Point Beach.

Funtown / Splashtown

New England's largest amusement and water park, located only ¼ mile from the campground. Discount tickets available at our front desk. www.funtownsplashtownusa.com

L.L. Bean

Shop the famous L.L. Bean store in Freeport, approx. 30 miles north, plan time to hit some of the other, many outlet stores as well.

Lighthouses

First to see is the Portland Headlight, the second oldest lighthouse in America, surrounded by the Fort Williams State Park, a place to visit in itself. Two Lights (where there are actually two lighthouses in the same area) is close by. Travel south to York to see the Nubble Light. You will also have views of several other lighthouses from any of these most popular lighthouses.

Aquaboggan Water Park

Just 1 ½ miles from the KOA, this water park includes many water rides, as well as a Lazy River, bumper boats and more.

Lobsters, lobsters, lobsters!

We have information on many restaurants…your trip won't be complete without some Maine lobster. Even buy some to take home!

Drive in theater

Not all areas of the country are lucky enough to still have drive-ins! And ours is less than 2 miles from the campground with two nightly showings in the season.

Old Orchard Beach

We are located at Maine's largest stretch of sandy beaches (7 miles), with Old Orchard Beach and it's boardwalk being the hub. Kids will also enjoy the Palace Playground, Old Orchard Beach's Amusement Park. A short drive from the campground, parking info available from our staff.

Whale watching

Whale watching is one of the most popular activities in southern coastal Maine. Let us set up a trip for you. If you'd like a shorter trip, you can consider a Scenic Tour of the waters as well.

Scarborough Marsh Nature Center

Only 3 miles from the campground, where you can hike or canoe/kayak.

Maine Indoor Karting

This is a fabulous and unique opportunity to have some real fun! Maine Indoor Karting is an indoor kart racing facility that is designed specifically to provide adult, licensed drivers with a genuine racing experience. You'll race against other drivers in expertly engineered karts on a professionally designed track. They also have junior racing programs designed to help train young drivers, ages 8 to 15, on how to handle our junior-size karts. Visit Maine Indoor Karting online to learn more.

Scarborough Downs

Live harness racing on New England's fastest half-mile track. Dine with a finish line view at the Downs Club Restaurant. Only 10-15 minutes from the campground.

Beech Ridge Raceway

Stock car racing, located in Scarborough, a short distance from the campground.

Kennebunkport

Visit the Seashore Trolley Museum on the way, see George Bush's home, and enjoy the quaint shops and good restaurants in this classic Maine village.

Seashore Trolley Museum

Located in Kennebunkport, it's "History in Motion" and a wonderful way to spend an hour or two. See more than 25 restored streetcars, ride 3 ½ miles on one through some beautiful Maine country. View trolleys being restored, grounds available for picnicking.

The Wells Auto Museum

New England's largest display of "Brass Era" antique cars. Over 70 cars, along with other antique items like nickelodeons and coin games, bicycles, pictures and signs. Inexpensive and very enjoyable.

Ogunquit and Perkins Cove

South of Kennebunkport, still a very easy drive from the KOA. Walk the "Marginal Way", a paved trail bordering beautiful rocky coastline; enjoy the quaint cove and artist retreat with beautiful views. Consider taking in a play at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

Super Duck Tours

An exciting 1 ¼ hour historical tour of Portland with a twist. This strange new vehicle is cleverly disguised as a Duck and travels on both land and sea! Experience the charm of Portland with it's cobblestone streets, unique shops, historical buildings and it's working waterfront, the Old Port. Then you'll be traveling on water, in Casco Bay, home to islands, forts and famous lighthouses. Operates from April through October.

Walk the working waterfront in Portland and shop the many diverse and interesting shops at the Old Port. You'll also find many fine restaurants along the way.

Portland's Cultural Attractions including the Portland Museum of Art, the Children's Museum of Maine, the Southworth Planetarium, the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum, the Victoria Mansion, and the Wadsworth-Longfellow House

Desert of Maine

Located in Freeport, it's Maine's famous natural phenomenon. See giant sand dunes, enjoy nature trails and narrated tours.

Living Shaker Village

Located about 45 minutes from the campground, west of Portland, this is a live, working Shaker Village.

Maine Wildlife Park

Located near the Shaker Village, in Gray on Rt. 26. See moose, lynx, mountain lions, black bear, bald eagles, hawks, owls and white tailed deer. Nature trails, picnic facilities, educational programs.

Hiking

Enjoy the many hiking trails in the Saco area. The Cascade Falls Trail begins behind Cascade Inn/Restaurant, only 1 mile from the KOA. Only a half mile trail to a 30 foot waterfall. Or hike at the Scarborough Marsh (3 miles from KOA), at the Wolf Neck Woods State Park in Freeport, at Cape Arundel and Blowing Cave in Kennebunkport or at the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge in Wells. Our front desk has info on other hikes as well.
