AuSable VistaRecognized as a National Forest Scenic Overlook, this vista offers a spectacular view of Alcona Pond and the AuSable River Valley area. It is also a stop on the Jack Pine Wildlife Viewing Tour. Sturgeon Point LighthouseBuilt in 1869, the 70’ lighthouse is till in operation and features restored light keeper’s quarters and a maritime museum. Museum is open daily 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Memorial Day to color tour season. Lumberman’s MonumentSpectacular lookouts, gift shop, handicap trail, lumbering artifacts, displays, programs and a magnificent 14’ bronze statue. AuSable River QueenTake a paddle wheel boat trip down the AuSable River and enjoy the summer and fall scenery. Three Mile Beach ParkThis beach is among a handful of Michigan beaches left in their natural condition. Oscoda Beach ParkLocated along several hundred feet of gently sloping sugar sand, the park offers playground equipment, basketball court, a bathhouse, grills, picnic tables, and a new boardwalk. Corsair Ski TrailsNestled in the pines of the Huron National Forest, 44 miles of groomed trails are offered for winter cross country skiing and summer nature hiking. Yankee Air Force MuseumLocated on the former Wurtsmith AFB, this aviation history museum is open mid-May to mid-October. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday through Monday. |
