Gothenburg KOA

Location

Gothenburg KOA, a quiet, shady retreat close to Interstate-80, is located in the heart of Central Nebraska. It is an excellent home base to use while touring the area as it is located half-way between Fort Kearny and North Platte, home of the infamous Buffalo Bill Cody. It is also close to many other historical sites and family-oriented events that Central Nebraska has to offer. Gothenburg KOA's country campground is situated on the North Platte river, an area that the historic Oregon, Mormon, and Pony Express trails once ran through.

The campground

The campground has both shady and open sites and can accommodate up to 60' vehicles. There are also Kamping Kabins (reservations recommended) and tent sites. Gothenburg KOA can accommodate anyone - from the overnight camper to long-stay vacationers to groups (boy and girl scouts, tour groups etc.). There is a swimming pool, playground, tether-ball, laundry facilities, nature trail, and dog walk located in the campground. Additions to the playground, sand volleyball, horseshoes, and a number of other things are to be added soon.

The campground store

Gothenburg KOA's store is well stocked with what campers need - from water hoses to S'more making essentials! An eating area is provided inside the store. There is a book exchange, air hockey, table football and movie rentals also in the store. The store also has a gas station with both unleaded and super unleaded gasoline. Located in the store there is also souvenir and gift merchandise. A wide variety of angels, bears, Native American and Old West, as well as many other items, are available. In addition, t-shirts, keychains, postcards, and much more are sold. Coming soon are a line of candles and food items that are made in Nebraska.

Something a little different

A British oasis in the Great American Desert, Gothenburg KOA is not only home to your British hosts, the McDiarmids, but is also a supplier of British foods. Whether you would like tea, biscuits, sweets, chocolate bars, or more savory items you can purchase them at Gothenburg KOA. Gothenburg KOA even makes gift baskets upon request. Additions are made to the food lines all the time so don't forget to check out our new items. Other new items in our British line that will be arriving in the future are a line of Celtic items, including jewelry and souvenirs.
