Mitchell KOAOpen May 1 - October 25 No one can visit Mitchell without seeing the world's only Corn Palace. Established in 1892 and at its present location since 1921, the structure is stripped each year and decorated anew with murals formed by thousands of bushels of corn, grasses, grains and other products celebrating South Dakota's bounty. The Corn Palace is mentioned in the book, 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die. Other nearby attractions include Cabela's and a prehistoric Indian village. At the Dakota Discovery Museum, see historic American Indian beadwork and quillwork. Tee off at the Wild Oak Golf Club, only a mile away. Then return to your comfortable campground with tent sites, Kamping Kabins and RV sites up to 70 feet long. A pool, mini golf and bike rentals keep kids happy. After a stay here, you'll be rested and ready for the road. Please note: No out of state firewood is allowed, due to the spread of the emerald ash borer.
