Basketville

On Route 5 in Putney you may see the traditional craft of handmaking ash splint baskets. The huge factory store is a Vermont landmark featuring classic designs as well as baskets from around the world.

Santa’s Land

On Route 5 in Putney. A Christmas theme village and animal park. The largest collection of exotic birds and animals in Vermont. They also have a petting zoo, train and carousel rides, lovely gardens, eating facilities and Christmas gift shop.

Green Mountain Flyer

Twenty-six miles of breathtaking scenery and history, owned and operated by the Green Mountain Railroad. Running round trips from Bellows Falls to Chester, Vermont on a fully restored vintage passenger train. See the spectacular gorge at Brockway Mills, century old covered bridges and the pastoral scenes that are the very essence of Vermont. Late June through mid-October. South Deerfield, MA is the birth place and flagship store for this famous candle company. There you will find an unbelievable mix of shopping, entertainment and dining.

Experience a day in the life of an 18th century settler at The Fort at No.4 Living History Museum.

Old Deerfield Village

Situated on a 330-year-old, mile long street, Historic Deerfield preserves and interprets the architecture, artifacts and lifestyle of a prosperous early New England town. Historic Deerfield is a family friendly museum with many offerings for "kids" from 8 to 80. The Children's History Workshop provides a variety of learning experiences, as well as a space where children and grown-ups can relax.

Dining

Brattleboro and Putney are famous for its abundance of great and unusual restaurants. There you'll find everything from fine dining to a classic 50's diner to barbeque on outdoor tables by the riverside. You'll also find cuisine from the four corners of the globe and 'localvore' dishes prepared totally from ingredients grown or raised nearby.

Putney Road, 4 miles from the campground, provides services, grocery, and department stores. Downtown Brattleboro is great for people watching and offers 'earthy' clothing, crafts, collectibles, and cooperatives. Antique, craft studios, and second hand stores line the streets of surrounding villages.
