Open in its current location June 1987, the Opera is situated on 43 acres of farmalnd along the shores of Otsego Lake. The intimate 900-seat theater with its unusual sliding walls, which allows the audience to enjoy fresh air and views of the surrounding countryside prior to performance and during intermissions, are a unique feature of the theater. The valley here is full of farms and farm stands. You can purchase anything from fresh meats and eggs, to local honeys and maple syrups. Don't forget the fresh fruits and vegetables. There is even a u-pick strawberry patch. Stop by the office and pick up a list of local farm stands.
There are many fishing lakes near the campground. The biggest are Otsego Lake and Canadarago Lake. There are several small lakes around as well. Check https://dec.ny.gov/regulatory/permits-licenses/sporting-and-use/sporting/fishing-license for fees and regulations.
Play a round or two of golf at one of several golf courses in and near Cooperstown. Both Leatherstocking and Otsego golf courses are open to the public. Meadowlinks is a course is Richland Springs.
