Lace up your running shoes and prepare to conquer the Highmark Wholecare Memorial Day Free 5K event in Gettysburg Pennsylvania on May 27, 2024! This is a chip timed event presented by Healthy Adams County, completely free for all participants! The Free 5K will run through the Wyndham Hotel Gateway Gettysburg Complex off routes 30 and 15. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to register. Run/walk starts at the Wyndham Hotel. Medals will be provided for all children who finish. This 5K is on paved roads with some gentle hills. If you are looking for a fast and flat course for a 5k PR this route is not for you, but the scenery is unbeatable! This is a cross country style route with some areas of uneven footing and inclines, but it is very suitable for both runners and walkers.

Each year, the Adams County Library hosts FunFest at the Gettysburg Rec Park on June 14th. FunFest is a free event that celebrates the kick-off into SummerQuest, the ACLS summer learning program. FunFest encourages children and families to participate in SummerQuest, as well as experience everything the community has to offer. Come and join us at the HABPI's 9th Annual Ride for Trails Bike Ride on Saturday morning, September 21, 2024, beginning and ending at the Gettysburg Area Recreation Park. Three different routes are being offered to accommodate riders of all experience levels. All rides will travel through the Gettysburg National Military Park and over the picturesque Sachs Covered Bridge. The longer rides will also wind their way through the quiet roads of southern Adams County. To make this event complete, a lunch is provided after the rides. Pre-registration is available online until noon on Sept 20 and costs $40. Ride-day registration is also available at a cost of $45 and opens at 8:00 a.m. A BBQ lunch is provided starting at 11 a.m. A t-shirt is included in the price of registration for those registering by Aug 29. Note that this is a "rain or shine" event. Due to the requirements for permits, facility reservations, etc., we are not able to offer a rain date.
