Campground Reviews

Great

The people were nice and the campground was very well maintained. What I have gotten to dislike about KOA in general is not being to look at the campsites to pick the one you want. It seems like no matter how much I spend we always get the least desirable one in its category. The picture in website showed this beautiful shaded spot for the water front and it was a water view. YeeHaa!

Terrific, just like last year!

We had a great time staying at KOA for the first time. The amenities were great! I just wish the camp store had more food options during the weekend and wanted the cafe to be open. The staff was extremely nice. Lacey ran the kid programs and she was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the band that was supposed to attend did not show up and our group was looking forward to it.

Everything was amazing

We stayed in space WF19 and it was a great spot. We also stayed in early May before the summer rush! The grounds were clean. A couple of issues 1. The store was closed. 2. The nearest Dumpster was at the entrance of the KOA. 3. The cost is prohibitive if you want to stay for anything longer then a couple of days. However it did appear that there were some long term campers. overall, it was good.

Internet was spotty. Grill was closed due to the oven being down so we couldn’t get food. Location is beautiful.

Nice place. Would be nice to have sugar free ice cream in the camp store.

Great location, people and facilities. But really....AN AMENITIES FEE? Be honest and show it in the price!

Really enjoyed our week long visit. Only wish dumpsters were centrally located or have option of placing trash at site for pick-up.

It is nice and clean. The view of the ocean is amazing.

Not a bad place to stay, very relaxing and enjoying as long as the midges as not out. The camp sites are pretty tight, but the patio sites have a nice deck with chairs and tables.

We’ve stayed here a few times and it’s obvious this time was different. Staff members are a little more cold and the place feels like it’s not being managed the same way.

A ton of rule changes since last year - it would be helpful if campers received copies of all the things campers now agree to do/not do - very long list, not saying it is a bad list, just very long and detailed and different, so we need a copy. Would also be great if pre-registered campers don't have to fill in all their personal information over and over again....and someone stole my cooler.

Wonderful friendly staff, clean campground, beautiful area

the view from the cabin was magnificent, and the cabin itself was like brand new......not enough restaurants in the area is the only negative....but alot to do at the campground.

This was our second trip to this KOA. We had a water front site both times and really like the sunrises and sunsets. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The staff was very helpful and nice, best ever! The park was one of the most beautiful parks we have ever stayed in. Also, we had a place to park our boat. We definitely will go back!

The staff here are great. They always smile and wave when they see you or stop and talk. We even had a snake heading under our trailer one day after hours that one of the staff members responded when we called the after hours emergency number. He came over and relocated the snake to a wooded area. Thanks KOA.

Shrimp Boil was only "ok". It was set up outside and everything got cold. Minimal quantity.

One of the big things I stayed there for were the many amenities and didn’t get a one. No shuttle service by van or boat were available the whole week. The store didn’t open until the end of the week and the seafood boil was the biggest ripoff of all. $30.00 a head for 4 clams 4 shrimp 3 pieces of sausage 2 potatoes and 2 corns that my wife got and there was no more shrimp or sausage left for

It was a great experience and enjoyed my stay except for the flyin insects. Part of blinds were broken off.Bugs stains in ceiling. Dead insects with wings(look like a mosquito) stuck in webs on chairs and under table on porch . Chairs dirty. Maybe should had been power washed. After returning to the cabin , found about 30 tiny flying insects in bathroom and in shower which was a nuisance.

Great place to hide away and relax. Several fun amenities available and great scenic location. Easy check in process and helpful staff. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets weather permitting. We will be back.

We mostly enjoyed our stay and really liked the sound-side campsite. However, we did experience FOUR issues during our stay. 1st, our permanent-site neighbors across the road played loud hard rock music during the evening hours. 2nd, a poorly stocked camp store. Nearest grocery is 45 minutes. 3rd, site layout. Doors open onto neighbor's sewer line. There is INSUFFICIENT ROOM for comments!

The campground is a long drive off highway, and there is nothing nearby as far as grocery, restaurants, etc. Looks like A LOT of the sites are seasonal (well kept). The sites are gravel and took a bit for us to level. The roads are also gravel, and noisy with the frequent golf carts and vehicles. Camp Store was closed while we were there, and the office is a LONG walk to get ice.

The camp store was closed until our last day. It would be nice if you could consider opening a little earlier for us early birds. We’ll be back there next year for the sane week.

My first complaint is that they advertised a cafe that isn’t up and running yet so a little lunch or breakfast I planned to have wasn’t going to happen and there isn’t a store super close by to get things when you didn’t know you needed it. So I would say don’t advertise something that doesn’t exist yet because people plan on that. Cottages should be cleaned better, and more fishing ar

Beautiful campground . Friendly staff ! Take your time and be careful on the main road heading into the camp , it’s very narrow and windy. White knuckles bringing in a 5th wheel.

I visited in April so it was not busy, this probably made a difference. A beautiful campground, clean and nice staff.

We had a space inland with a beautiful view of the water. Too cold to swim but the campground is getting ready for summer. Nice places to walk along the water. Very clean bathroom and the grounds were well manicured. We enjoyed our camp experiences.

Great location, quiet and serene—just what we needed to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. This KOA is tucked away behind Church's Island neighborhood, so you wouldn't even know it's there. The roads are very narrow when going through this area before you get to the KOA, so keep that in mind if you have a big rig. But don't let that scare you, because there are plenty of big rigs that go there. Yes, we're going to visit again. The staff was great, the location is great, and the bathrooms and laundry facilities were excellent and well-maintained. The convenience store was great, and the fun activities they have outside, like a jump house, putting green, and little mini go-karts that are powered by pedal power, are worth trying out if you want to work out. Oh, and make sure you visit the Morris Farmers Market in Currituck, which is about 26 minutes away. It's definitely a place you need to visit for the shopping, the food, the music, and the environment—it's totally worth it. And if you want to venture out a little further, like we did, we went to Kitty Hawk, which only took us barely an hour to get to. It was such an easy and scenic drive, and we got to see an awesome part of history when it comes to the first recorded flights and innovation.

Very well kept resort! The spaces are gravel and level and plenty of space between spots. Lots of things for kids to do. Bathrooms were super clean and tended to throughout the day. Our space had a really nice seating area overlooking the water. We were only there a few days to spend time at Outer Banks, so that is a journey. We would've stayed closer, had we realized. The speed signs are no joke…from the KOA where there's only one way in and out (the police were waiting to ticket a little outside the entrance) and all through the Outer Banks. We saw so many people pulled over (including us). Just pay attention because the speed changes fairly often.
